Benefits of Exercise

If exercise could be purchased in a pill, it would be the single most widely prescribed and beneficial medicine in the nation.” —Robert H. Butler

You already know that exercise can make you look hot and feel great. You also probably know that exercise can also help to lower the risk of many chronic diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, hyperglycemia, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity-related illnesses, stroke, and some cancers. You ALSO probably know that exercise can increase endorphin flow to your brain, helping to boost your mood. It helps with self-confidence, energy levels, and sleep patterns. It helps you stay healthy and active as you age, helps to prevent osteoporosis, and relieves stress. It can even help reduce your risk of dementia and Alzheimer's. So....WHY NOT?

Most people want to exercise. They look at a boot camp or an endurance event, such as a 10k, and think, "I wish I could do that." If that sounds like something you have said to yourself, the good news is that, in my experience, people are stronger than they think they are. I'm not saying you'll be bench pressing two hundred pounds with no training. I'm saying, with the right modifications and the right attitude, you can do all the things that you've always wanted to but were too afraid to try. You have the potential.

I want you to be comfortable in your own skin. I want you to be healthy and feel better than you ever have. I want you to be stronger than you thought you could be. I want you to try new things, and most of all, I want you to be proud of yourself.

I love to teach very functional forms of fitness. Some of my favorite exercises involve only bodyweight, and occasionally you might see a sprinkle of Crossfit inspiration thrown in there. Tell me your favorite forms of exercise, tell me what is fun for you, and I will do my best to incorporate it so that you have a great time during every session!
